Among the most exasperating cartoon characters of all time, we find Elmyra Duff, D.W. Read, Pearl Krabs, Scrappy-Doo, and Drizella Tremaine.
We’ve all experienced the relentless presence of these pesky cartoon characters who seem to have a knack for getting on our nerves.
From Spongebob Squarepants endlessly shouting “Mrs. Puff! Mrs. Puff!” to Bugs Bunny’s never-ending teasing of poor Elmer Fudd, they possess a unique ability to grate on us.
Annoying Cartoon Characters
Perhaps it’s their irritating voices or their repetitive catchphrases that push our buttons. Or maybe it’s because they never seem to learn from their antics, perpetually causing chaos in each episode.
Whatever the underlying reason, one thing is certain – these irritating cartoon characters seem like they belong on a one-way trip to the Island of Misfit Toys.
17Elmyra Duff
Annoying Level: 9/10
Elmyra Duff, a character from Looney Tunes, is known for her over-the-top love for animals, which often leads to their harm as she tries to hug and cuddle them.
Her lack of awareness of the pain she causes makes her frustrating and bothersome to both the animals and the other characters. Moreover, Elmyra’s persistent and childlike cheerfulness may be irritating to viewers. In total, her actions and personality traits combine to create an overbearing character that can be annoying.
16Caillou
Annoying Level: 6/10
The character of Caillou is portrayed as caring, adventurous, and helpful. He is curious about the world and constantly seeks to learn more. However, in some earlier episodes, Caillou’s behavior could be frustrating, as he would become upset when things didn’t go his way.
This behavior could be rated as a 7 out of 10 on the annoyance scale. As Caillou grows older, his personality evolves, and this is reflected in the change of his shirt color from gray to yellow in later episodes.
15All of the Angry Birds
Annoying Level: 9/10
To be completely truthful, I have to say that the movie Angry Birds didn’t really capture my interest. It doesn’t seem to be of high quality and I doubt it could keep me engaged for an entire 90 minutes. The decision to create the movie was probably not the best.
14Darla from Finding Nemo
13 years ago, Finding Nemo was released and it quickly became popular with people of all ages. The story had many lovable characters, including several sidekicks, that made the audience root for them.
However, there was one character that some found annoying and terrifying: a little girl with braces and red ponytails who was a patient at the dentist.
13Princess Morbucks
There is a young girl named Princess Morbucks who tends to be quite boastful, spoiled, greedy, and often tries to dictate what others should do. To avoid her tantrums, her father often gives her cash whenever she wants something. Whenever things do not go her way, she becomes very upset, which can bother those around her.
Despite her desire to become a Powerpuff Girl, she does not have any superpowers or experience in fighting crime. It upsets her that she cannot join the trio, but she only wants to do so for cosmetic reasons since they are very popular in Townsville.
12D.W. Read, Arthur
Arthur finds “DW” to be quite bothersome, despite her seemingly innocent demeanor. He goes as far as to refer to her initials as “Disaster Warning” and once warned Sue Ellen about her. D.W. has even adopted “DisasterWarning99” as her username in Virtual Goose. She seems to enjoy getting Arthur into trouble on occasion.
11Nermal, Garfield Gets Real
Nermal is a kitten who takes pride in his cuteness and claims to be the cutest on the planet. He can be sneaky at times, such as when he swam in Garfield’s water bowl with a shark fin to trick him.
Garfield, who is bigger and stronger, sometimes threatens Nermal, saying he may not live to see his next birthday. Despite this mistreatment, Garfield actually admires Nermal and considers him his best friend.
10Sway Sway, Breadwinners
SwaySway, the green duck, has a slim and tall build with a big head. He wears a blue cap with a slice of bread on it and has green feathers on his head and cheeks, along with blond hair. His outfit consists of a white V-neck t-shirt, blue shorts, and white socks, which slightly expose his stomach.
9Emojis, The Emoji Movie
In Textopolis, a city within smartphones, all emojis reside. However, Gene, an enthusiastic emoji with various expressions, is the only one who differs from the rest. Gene, with the assistance of Hi-5 and Jailbreak, a well-known codebreaker, seeks to become “normal” like other emojis. While exploring other apps, the trio uncovers a significant threat that could jeopardize the existence of their phones. Although it would be ideal to erase the movie from memory, let us hope that the fiery wreckage serves as a warning not to repeat this error.
8Pearl Krabs, SpongeBob Squarepants
Did you know that Pearl has the largest brain among all the residents of Bikini Bottom? Her brain is comparable to that of sperm whales, which are known for having giant brains on the planet. Thanks to her impressive math skills, she is a great fit for Mr. Krabs’ restaurant as a bookkeeper.
Pearl is still young and hasn’t fully matured yet, which is why she spends most of her time and money in the mall. Despite being happy, naive, and well-meaning, she has a high energy level.
Unfortunately, as the biggest teenage girl in the ocean, she struggles to fit in with the other residents of Bikini Bottom. Although she doesn’t always get along with her Bikini Bottom High School peers, she is friendly and trustworthy.
7Dee Dee, Dexter’s Laboratory
Dexter’s older sister, Dee Dee, is known for her ditzy, simple-minded, energetic, and hyperactive personality. In each episode of the show, she is seen sabotaging her brother’s experiments and destroying his lab. However, her actions are driven by ignorance rather than malice, and she loves and cares deeply for him.
There was one instance where she displayed hypocritical anger when Dexter was messing with her belongings in her room. Apart from her love for ballet and puppies, Dee Dee also enjoys playing dolls with her friends, exploring Dexter’s laboratory, and embodying the typical stereotypes associated with girls.
6Drizella Tremaine, Cinderella
In Disney’s 1950 animated feature film, Cinderella, Drizella Tremaine is one of the secondary antagonists. She is the eldest daughter of Lady Tremaine and the stepsister of Cinderella, as well as the biological older sister of Anastasia. Drizella is depicted as a sadistically cruel, abusive, and arrogant person.
Despite her vicious nature, she is considered to be the better of the two sisters due to Anastasia’s spiteful behavior towards Cinderella. Drizella’s contemptuous envy for Cinderella’s success often leads her to get Cinderella into trouble in the Kingdom Hearts series.
5Angelica Pickles, Rugrats
In the series, Angelica Charlotte Pickles is the main antagonist and also the secondary tritagonist. However, she often joins forces with the babies to fight against the main villains in each film, making her more of an antihero.
Angelica was recognized as the 7th greatest cartoon character of all time by TV Guide in 2002. Her cousins, Tommy and Dil Pickles, refer to her as a spoiled brat, while the other Rugrats consider her their archenemy.
4Bendy, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends
In the “Everyone Knows It’s Bendy” episode, Bendy is an imaginary friend with yellow and black stripes. Jeff Bennett is the voice actor for this character. Bendy tends to cry and accuse others of wrongdoing to gain sympathy when he’s caught. He’s known for causing trouble and blaming others for the vandalism he creates.
3Mr. Frond, Bob’s Burgers
I enjoy collaborating with Mr. Frond, a guidance counselor who means well but can be a bit inept at times. Even though he wants to help, his students, especially Louise Belcher, tend to take advantage of his naivety.
Some of his favorite pastimes include spending time with cats, listening to 90’s music, engaging in meaningful conversations, and participating in creative activities like quilting and theater.
2Scrappy-Doo, Scooby-Doo
Scrappy was always eager to help Scooby and his friends solve mysteries, as he looked up to his uncle Scooby. Despite being small, Scrappy was full of energy and bravery, often seen fearlessly battling the monsters encountered by Scooby and his crew.
However, at times he did show a bit of cowardice. During their travels, Scooby taught him the importance of knowing when to be bold and when to retreat.
1Diego, Dora the Explorer
Diego comes from a family of three children, including himself and his two daughters. His cousin Dora is the oldest child in her family, with younger fraternal twin siblings named Guillermo and Isabella.
On the other hand, Diego is the youngest of his family, with two older sisters named Daisy and Alicia. Unlike Dora, who plays a minor character role in their shared show, Diego is a significant character in his own show.
